Wayfair
Naughty or Nice Contest
Type:
Voting based competition application
Challenge:
A well-established retail and consumer goods merchandiser, Wayfair stocks beyond 5000 brand names covering practically all imaginable home appliances, from cookware to lighting apparatus and furniture to electronics, and is one of the leading brand names in the American market. No amount of brand popularity is really enough though, and it wasn’t too long before Wayfair was considering a way to use the renown, word of mouth marketing inherent to Facebook in order to springboard the awareness of their brand even further – quite a daunting task when considering the market saturation of the home appliances industry, especially when dealing with a merchandiser as opposed to an individual brand.
Solution:
Using a customized approach with PHP coding along with touches of JQUERY for fluidity, Social Cubix was quick to provide a fully functional framework that allowed for the convenient setup of a ‘Naughty Or Nice’ voting competition that went awesomely viral in the first week following its launch. Being well-experienced with Facebook-centric user engagement and application ‘stickiness’ approaches, we were quick to point out that a simple interface that based on choosing products and then having friends vote on the subsequent wish list would be the best approach here.
Results:
The genius of our implementation became apparent, with Wayfair seeing brand awareness spreading from a vast number of users who were not previously fans of the brand, which is clear evidence of a boost in brand awareness, in direct proportion to a perfectly tailored application.
