The idol franchise is a well known one with spin offs in 42 territories all around the world with hit talent shows like American Idol. The franchise needed to expand into Africa’s most populous country-Nigeria and needed a site developer that could deliver in creating a multi-purpose website to sell their show.
Social Cubix worked with Freemantle, the franchise owner to come up with a design that retained the idol brand personality but still resonated with the African country. With a few iterations, Social Cubix was ready to create a unique online experience for visitors, which included video immersions of performances as well as interactive forums. The site featured integration with Facebook that allowed users to vote for their favorite for their favorite performer in real time as the show was televised. With the platform, we empowered the idol organizers with a simple but powerful backend to manage and moderate content on the front end as well as the users on the site.
Upon launch, thousands of users rushed to the site to enjoy the content from current and previous shows but also to show support for their favorite performer. The site attracted the largest traffic the organizer had seen in events organized locally.
