Street Basketball

Multi-player, physics based Basketball for iOS

Challenge

Creating a basket ball game that utilizes the touch-optimization features inherent to the latest versions of IOS for the iPhone as well iPad.

The key is to incorporate contemporary art-work and animations with a unique physics-set. in order to ensure that the Social Cubix version of Street Basketball stands out among the range of iPhone basketball games out there.

Solution

Heavy duty brainstorming with our R&D Team soon convinced us that the route to take was the latest [iPad] multi-player model that allows multiple users to use a single device to play the same game.

This is one of the newer iPad gaming concepts out there, and we used the revolutionary Box 2D Engine in order implement the two-world physics layer that effectively allows multiple users to simultaneously interact with the same application, on the same device.

Cocos 2D was used as the coding framework while PHP was the coding language that was decided upon, and the game that emerged by the end of our iteration based surpassed our expectations to quite a surprising degree.

Result

Close to 5000 downloads since being up-loaded to the app-store last week. Plus a highly entertaining game that's equal parts of fun regardless of whether it's being played by kids, adults, or both at the same time.

Social Cubix has delivered fast, high quality builds for us for almost a year now. I continue to be amazed by the excellent work that has come out of their shop – the attention to detail, and especially the quick turnaround is just stellar.Jeff Kemp, Senior Project Manager
